At fourteen I became a philosophical capitalist (the moral aspects of capitalism are more important than the economics) after some heavy reading. At seventeen I was living alone in a cabin reading Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche and other philosophers. I left school to have more time to travel and to study. College was too tedious, so I quickly dropped that. At the age of forty I started the website www.IncreaseBrainpower.com. It led my wife and I to a successful internet business consisting of that and twenty other websites.
Those who follow my Brainpower Newsletter and read between the lines know that the brain is not my passion. The mind is where the action is. The difference is that of hardware and software. The brain is a computer, the mind the programming - or sometimes more like fifteen programs competing with each other. What is even more amazing than the number of programs within us is the fact that some of them essentially take control of our thinking and subsequent decisions without our awareness of this process. That's what Beyond Mental Slavery is all about.
Most of my previous books have been sold online as e-books. Here's a short (and partial) biographical sketch from a self improvement "supersite" where I am the Creativity Expert:

Steve Gillman is the author of the ebooks, Problem Solving Power, 100 Ways To Increase Your Mind Power, Secrets Of Lucky People, and many others. (The latter is also available as a paperback from Amazon.com or your local bookstore.) His works have been featured alongside those of many well-known authors, including: Jack Canfield - Author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer - American self-help advocate and author of Your Erroneous Zones, one of the best-selling books of all time. Marci Shimoff - Author of best-selling book, Happy for No Reason. How do we think? How could we think? How does one generate new, creative and useful ideas? Steve's lifetime exploration of these and related questions lead to the creation of his numerous websites, books, newsletters and courses. His site RadicalNewThoughts.com, for example, with it's Radical Thinking Course, delves into |
That's probably enough name dropping and praise. There are a few excerpts from Beyond Mental Slavery linked to on the homepage. Those who wish to know more about me can do at my site: SteveGillman.com.
